Who We Are

Our Purpose

Impact Communities' Purpose

We begin with the basic belief that every child deserves to laugh and grow and learn in a school setting and community that nurtures her/his fullest potential. The goal of prevention is to raise healthy kids by giving them skills that teach them to make good decisions. At the same time, we work with the significant adults in their lives to help them understand the urgent necessity of blanketing young people with the tools and resources they need to stay healthy. Every teen is vulnerable to substance use, but the more we encourage them to believe in themselves, the more likely they are to value their lives.

Testimonials

What started off as someone coming to talk to the youth weekly, has grown into a much-needed mentorship program at the Boys & Girls Club. I have seen how this program has changed how the youth interact with other one another and how they gained new perspectives and set individual goals. Mr. Jeremiah has built a rapport with the teens as well as our pre-teens. He always brings positive vibes and is always dedicated to improving the lives of our youth with his lessons. Male mentors are needed within our organization and with this program in place, it has helped our male youth especially those who are at-risk. One of the lessons in particular, Mr. Jeremiah had the youth pick out careers, homes, lifestyles, etc and then provided them with fake money. They were so excited until it was time to pay bills-it was a true eye opener for them to trade places with their parents/guardians to see and feel what it is like to be adult! One of the teens after this session stated, "I think I just want to stay in high school, I don't want to grow up"! This program helps them gain confidence like one of our girls who was shy to even talk amongst her peers has now gained confidence to talk to the club and do our weekly announcements.  I look forward to continuing this program at the Boys & Girls Club.

I wanted to take this time to let you know how much the juvenile probation department appreciates all the things you do for us and the kids of Navarro. You and Impact Communities provide so many different things for our department that we would otherwise not be able to provide to the families of Navarro County. Our girls have truly benefited from the Girl's Circle and have enjoyed the craft activities and the lessons. I believe this to be a positive bonding opportunity that my officers would otherwise not be able to engage in.

The partnership we enjoy is priceless to us and we hope we can continue to count on your mentorship for years to come.

-- Jana Miller, Chief Juvenile Probation Officer, Navarro County Juvenile Probation Department
