Hands Unite: Do Your Part!

February is Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month (TDVAM); a time designated to raise awareness of dating violence among teens and 20-somethings.

Hosted by the 10-year-old Loveisrespect, reports, "One in three teens in the U.S. will experience physical, sexual or emotional abuse by someone they are in a relationship with before they become adults. And nearly half (43%) of dating college women report experiencing violent and abusive dating behaviors."

Throughout the month, Loveisrespect will present a Respect Week, a webinar and a Wear Orange Day as well as many opportunities to share social messages on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Find more information, including downloadable materials here.

Dating violence often occurs when alcohol and other drugs are being misused or abused. In fact, several studies draw a direct link between substance abuse and dating violence. Learn more here.
